The Brasley bridge is the one between Grantchester and Trumpington on Grantchester Road, near Byron’s Pool. The date of its closure for repairs has changed a number of times but is now 2nd February 2015. Work should be complete by September and a temporary footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists will be in place for the duration of the works.

As all Grantchester residents know, Christmas Day is just a prelude to the main event of the season – the barrel race on Boxing Day. The event will start as usual at 12pm on 26th December and this year will support the Samaritans and Grantchester Parochial Church Council. All are welcome!

All proceeds will go to Fine Cell Work, a social enterprise that trains prisoners in paid, skilled, creative needlework undertaken in the long hours spent in their cells to foster hope, discipline and self-esteem.
