GCP had originally planned for their overnight works starting the w/c 11 August to be carried out under temporary traffic lights. They have since been informed they can carry out these works as overnight road closures. This is a positive step for the deliverability of the project as a road closure will enable them to deliver the overall programme in a more efficient manner. The times for the closure will be 8pm-6am each night. The road will be reopened to two-way traffic in the day, with a speed restriction and temporary traffic lights in place to enable pedestrians and cyclists to cross at specific locations (push button lights).
The diversion route for these closures will be the same as advised in their previous correspondence (see earlier notice below). As a reminder, the official diversion route will be Cambridge Road (A603) – Ermine Way (A1198) – Old N Road (A1198)– A505 – A10 – Hauxton Road – High Street – Trumpington Road (A1134) – The Fen Causeway (A1134) – Newnham Road (A603) – Barton Road (A603).
Following their enabling works taking place, they will formally begin from w/c Monday 1 September for approximately 18 weeks to widen and improve the walking and cycling path that runs alongside Barton Road. The works will be carried out as outlined previously.
GCP say they would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to assure you they are working hard to ensure they can deliver their works as quickly as possible.
