The Reading Room is a small, thatched building that stands in front of the Village Hall on Grantchester High Street. It was built in the 1840s and extensively refurbished in 2016. It is suitable for meetings and gatherings of up to 30 people and has good Wi-Fi, BTYouView and projection facilities that enable users to project their own content from laptops, tablets or phones. It has a main room containing an antique table and chairs, bookcases, a glass cabinet and a fireplace with an electric simulated wood stove. There is a small pantry with cups, a kettle and sink and a single toilet. The Reading Room is typically used for meetings, small presentations and small receptions e.g. christenings. It is a minute’s walk from three pubs, all of which serve meals and two minutes from the beautiful Grantchester Meadows.
